Theodore Crawford Cassidy was born, better known as his stage name Ted Cassidy.

He is known for his deep voice & for being tall, 6 foot 9 inches!

His show biz career started as a disc jockey on WFAA in Dallas, he was on air when John F Kennedy was shot & was the 1st to interview eye witnesses, he also appeared in bit parts on WFAA, channel 8 TV.

Because of his deep voice & his looks he played unusual characters in many Sci-Fi & comedy shows.

He was a voice artist for Hana-Barrera.

He appeared in many episodes of Star Trek , I dream of Jennie, Batman, & A Man From U.N.C.L.E. to name a few.

Later he narrated & supplied noises for T.V’s The Incredible Hulk, & played Bigfoot in The Six Million Dollar Man.

His film work included Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, Mackenna’s Gold, The Last Remake Of Beau Geste & Goin Coconuts.

But he is best know for his parts in TV’s The Addams Family, playing Thing ( you only saw a hand) & Lurch the family butler, who didn’t say much but how can anyone forget the deep voice answering the door or telephone with “You Rang?”.

In 1965 he released a record “The Lurch” & sang & danced it on American TV.


He died in 1979 & has a cool headstone.
